Convert AVIF to JPG

Turn a modern AVIF image into a JPG that opens in any app — free, in your browser, with nothing uploaded.

Drag & drop your .avif files here

One or many — nothing is uploaded.

On your device.Your photo is decoded by code running in this browser tab. It is never uploaded — you can watch the Network tab in your browser’s developer tools stay empty while it converts.

AVIF is one of the newest image formats — wonderfully small, but still unsupported by plenty of editors, office software, and older devices. When something refuses to open an .avif, converting it to JPG is the reliable fix, since JPG is the lowest common denominator that every image program understands.

Your browser decodes the AVIF and re-encodes it as a JPEG at the quality you set. Decoding AVIF needs a reasonably current browser; if a file will not open, updating to a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari usually solves it, and the tool tells you honestly rather than producing a blank image.

Convert one file or a batch and download them together as a .zip. The whole conversion runs in this browser tab and the image is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why won't my AVIF file open?
AVIF is very new, so many programs and older devices don’t support it yet. Converting to JPG fixes that. Decoding AVIF needs a current browser; if it fails, update and retry.
Will the JPG be bigger than the AVIF?
Usually yes — AVIF compresses more efficiently, so the same picture is typically larger as a JPG. You trade the size for compatibility: the JPG opens everywhere.
What if the converter says it can't decode my AVIF?
It means your browser can’t decode AVIF — older versions can’t. The tool says so honestly rather than faking a result. Update to a current browser and try again.
